Proposed Prakrit University

National Institute of Prakrit Studies and Research (NIPSAR) has been functioning as a Teaching and Research Centre under the Bahubali Prakrit Vidyapeeth registered Trust for over 30 years. Over the years, this institute has done commendable work in the areas of teaching, research, and publication of literature on Jain philosophy, culture, history, Prakrit language, Jain sculpture, and more. In addition to more than 100 publications, many scholars from the institute have been awarded at the national level.
In view of its unique status and contributions to the study of Jainology and other oriental branches of learning, the institute has earned a place of reputation in the academic world both within and outside India. Now, this Prakrit Institute is embarking upon a scheme of expansion and diversification of its activities, especially in Oriental Sciences, and therefore, it deserves and needs the status of a university. The academic and social workers of this trust aim to establish a university to be known as Bahubali Prakrit University in Shravanabelagola.
Dhavala Teertham in Shravanabelagola is an ideal place for pursuing higher studies in all subjects related to Prakrit language and literature, the comparative study of Sanskrit, Pali, Apabhramsa, Kannada and other Indian languages, comparative philosophies, religions and ethics, art, archaeology and inscriptions, manuscriptology, peace research, the science of living, yoga, and meditation, all within a green environment near the holy place of Shravanabelagola.
